Little ducks

These are some pictures of the baby ducks that hatched on the pond behind our house. So many of the communities in Jacksonville have retention ponds. Ours is a good size, with lots of waterfowl on it, fish, turtles (of all sizes... and they eat the baby ducks) :( But 7 of the 13 have survived. One had a hurt foot, and our next door neighbors caught it and put it in a cage for a couple days. I went over and held it yesterday for a few minutes. It is now back with it's siblings. When they get scared on the water, they move so fast, it looks like they are walking on the water! They are so cute. I think these 7 now have a good chance of survival to adulthood. I wish some more would hatch! They are so fun to watch.

High Hopes Challenge #24

This card is for High Hopes Challenge #24. I don't have any High Hopes stamps, so I used this cute image. I'll be back with the company...In Style Stamps. The challenge was to create borders. I used a Fiskers border punch, punching a single punch on each side of the card. I ran it through Cuttlebug's swiss dots embossing folder. I ran a ribbon (I've been wanting to use this ribbon... isn't it just gorgeous!) by BasicBasic from top to bottom, attached a bow at the bottom. I used the flowers from the cut out on the borders on each corner of the image. The image and mat are cut with Nestabilities regular rectangles and scallops. The image is colored with Copics: Y02, Y06 and Y11; BG10, 11, & 13, R11, YR02, E33, E35, C3 and C5, and G21. The card base is GA Pacific and the lilac and blue are DCWV.

OCC color challenge, CPS

This little card was made for OCC's Saturday color challenge to use Mustard, Bashful Bule and Not Quite Navy. The cardstock for the base of the card is GA Pacific. The "mustard" and "not quite navy" are DCWV. The dp is from Basic Grey's Cupcake. The image is from Stampin'Up. I colored the image with Copics: YR02, R27, Y06, G09 and G85. I highlighted the phrase with BG10. The image and mat are cut with Nestabilities Circles and Scallops.

Saturday Sketch Challenge #44, SCSLSC213

This simple card was made for Saturday's Sketch Challenge #44 to use dots and circles. I used two Cuttlebug folders: dots and spots and swiss dots. The image is cut with Nestabilities Ovals and also the scallop mat. The flower is a silk flower from Primaflowers. The white and black pearls are Kaiser. The black and white ribbon by Textured Trios finishes the card. The white paper is GA Pacific cardstock and the black is unknown. I believe the image is from Stampin'Up. I sponged around the edge with black chalk (I know, it looks gray :) ).

Magnolia Vs Stampavie color challenge

This little card was made for Sunday's Magnolia vs Stampavie, a color challenge to use Red, Black, White and gray is optional. I used GA Pacific white card stock, Basic Grey's Cupcake red, and a general black piece of cardstock. The image is colored with Copics: R11, R14, , R27, E33, #35, C3 and C5 plus R00 for her skin. I scored the card using my Fiskers paper trimmer scoring attachment. The black pearls are from Kaiser Crafts. The image is cut with Nestabilities long rectangle and mounted on the long scallop. Simple card, but really cute (I love the image:)

Sunday Color Create #9, The Willow Garden sketch challenge

Well, girls, it's Monday! It's a tad cooler today here in Jacksonville, but nothing we can't handle. Still have on my shorts! Boy, the north has really been getting blasted this past weekend. Poor ND! Wow. Wish we could send them a bit of our sunshine!


I love this cute little dog house image by Great Impressions. I used it for The Willow Garden's Sunday Simple Stampin' sketch challenge for a CAS. I coupled it with the Sunday Colors Create #9 to use lilac and blue with ribbons and swirls. I used blue ribbonand some ribbon flowers that match from my statch. I used three Cuttlebug folders: The big flowers, the swiss dots, and one of my new border embossing folders. I colored the image with Copics and mounted it on Nestabilities square scallops after cutting the image with the matching square. I raised the image on foam dots.

Friday Sketchers #45, Cute Card Thursday #53

This card was made for Cute Card Thursday #53, to make a card for a family member. This is for my hubby just 'cuz! I used Friday Sketchers #45 for my guide. I used blue DCWV, and the pink and green are from Basic Grey. The image is Great Impressions. I colored it with Copics. I sponged the background of the image with chalk, blue and green. The sentiment is from SU. The flower is Prima and the button is a guess :). I finished it with a pink gingham ribbon and attached the sentiment with a spiral clip. That's it! Pretty simple

This card was made for Verve's sketch challenge with a twist: to use a sentiment stamp only. This is the first one for April (even tho' it's still March). I used Basic Grey for all papers (except card base) from Cupcake. I added a blue ribbon to match the blue background. The green behind the second panel is also BG. I used a Fiskers border punch for the lacy look. The image is cut with Nestabilities Ovals. I embossed it with Cuttlebug's Dots and Circles embossing folder, as with the first dp background. I popped the sentiment and bow up on foam dots. I finished the card with two Kaiser pearls. Simple card but I think it turned out rather pretty.

Penny Black 42 Think Spring

This card was made for today's Penny Black challenge, #28, a sketch and to "Think Spring". I've been seeing this color combo in flower gardens with Pansies: dark purple, soft purple and yellow. And it is definitely a sping combo! I used all DCWV, starting with a moss green, followed by dark purple, which I embossed with my new Cuttlebug embossing folder... I know, it's hard to see. I'll use it again, have no fear! I topped that with a soft yellow, embossed with my new CB embossing border! It just went perfectly with little Hedgie's flowers :). I colored the image with Copics and sponged the backbround with yellow chalk and the edges with purple chalk. I used my opaque white marker to make white dots on the scalloped square Nestabilties. The image is also cut with square Nesties. I used purple gingham ribbon (which screams spring to me). I popped the image up on foam dots. I finished the card with white pearls as accents.

Wiff of Joy Sketch Challenge #23

Whiff of Joy stamps are fast becoming favorites! I love Willow and Melinda the most, and the animals are adorable. I don't have a lot yet, but I'm planning on remedying that real soon :)

This card was made for a sketch challenge #23. This is Willow with Cookies. I colored the image using my Copics. I used Basic Grey Two Scoops paper with DCWV for the cardstock. I used flowers and buttons as an accent, popping the flowers and the image on foam dots. It's a bit hard to see, but I put brown cardstock behind the BG dp as a bit more of an accent.

Magnolia vs Stampavie #19

This is for Magnolia vs Stampavie challenge #19, to make a shape card. The image is Sarah Kay's Rose's Garden. I colored the image with Copics, cut her out and popped it up on foam dots. I put stickers from Mrs. Grossman on each side and inside of the card. I folded it as a tri-fold card and cut the front. I don't know what to call the cut!

PB 41 with doodling

This cute little bear is for Penny Black's challenge #41, to doodle. I've never doodled on a card before. It was really challenging (I guess that's why they call it a challenge!). I used Copics to color the image, chalk to sponge around the image, and Nestabilities circles to cut and mat the image. It is popped up on foam dots. The backgrounds are all embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folders, Swiss dots and Swirls. There are white pearls on three corners and a Basic Grey brad in the upper right corner. There is a ribbon behind the image. I have to say that this is my own sketch! What do you think!? Thanks a bunch for lookin'!

OCC sketch

This card is for OCC's sketch challenge. The paper is DCWV and some dp I've had for awhile. I like brown and cream together :). I think the image is SU (again, my daughter's). I colored it with Copics and sponged with chalk. Look closely and you'll see tiny pearls on the flowers. There are pearls on the corners as well. The image and mat are cut with Nestabilities circles and scallop. A ribbon finished the sketch challenge. Thanks a bunch for lookin'!

This is for Verve's sketch challenge with a twist: to have a CAS (clean and simple) card with only one embellishment. So... this is what I came up with. I don't know what company the stamp is from, but it was sure fun to color! I used Copics reds and greens. I chose red and green paper to go with the image. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder with flowers on the green main background. I used a white pen to make dots on the Nestabilities scallops. The rose image and background are also Nesties circles. I think the sentiment is from SU, but I'm not sure (my daughter's as is the rose stamp), and I cut it with Nesties oval scallop, and used red chalk to sponge around the edge. My embellishment is a spiral clip. I think this is a really pretty, simple card. Hope you agree!

BG27, I {heart} sketch

This card is for last Saturday's BG #27 to use texture. I borrowed the sketch from I {heart} to sketch. I used textured paper for the main background (green and gray). On the image I used stickles on the rabbit's ear, nose and feet; the flowers are textured with FlowerSoft. The image is from Whipper Snapper. The image is colored with Copics and cut out with Nestabilities Oval. The buttons also add texture, as does the ribbon with a knot in it. I used chalk to sponge the blue "sky" and the green "grass". I think it turned out pretty cute. Hope you like it, too!

Hey girls! Today is Wednesday... I've had a place on my arm biopsied today, and now I'm drinking that awful stuff for a colonoscopy scheduled for tomorrow Ugh! That junk you have to drink is awful, and you have to drink so much! 4 liters I have :( Please feel sorry for me :-

Ok, enough of that! This card is for the Mojo 79 sketch challenge combined with Fun Frilled's color challenge. It's a pretty simple card, but I think it turned out ok. I used some black I have, gray is from DCWV and the patterned paper is also DCWV from a pad. Oh, and the red is also from DCWV. Then I used a red ribbon, two flowers and three brads, also a clip. I used a Fiskers border punch for the bottom of the gray. It's not too bad.

Magnolia vs Stampavie, Friday Sketchers

Isn't she adorable!!! I absolutely adore Sarah Kay. I must have them all!!!!! Actually, this one is my daughter's. Last time I visited her we traded images. This reminds me of when I was growing up on the farm in southwestern Missouri. We had baby chicks every summer. And now, behind our Florida home, we have a retention pond. It has so much water fowl that is so much fun to watch! Well, we currently have ducklings. Mama duck started out with 13, but she's down to 9 as of this morning... darn turtles! There must be 25-30 turtles in that pond as well, and they love baby ducks! But they are growing quickly (the ducklings), so maybe most will survive. But that's what this image reminds me of.

This is for MvsS challenge to make a mother's day card. My mom has been gone for years, but I'm going to give it to my mom-in-law. She loves watching the water fowl, and she was raised on a farm in Iowa. I colored the image with my Copics and sponged it with chalk. In the upper left corner I put a little sunshine :). Using last Friday's sketch challenge, I have three layers, including the image. The image was too large to actually layer, so I cut it with Nestabilities rectangle, embossed it, and cut the second layer with a smaller scallop rectangle. The paper is Basic Grey (can you tell I like BG paper?). The flowers are Prima and the pink rhinestones are from Kaiser (I also love Kaiser pearls and rhinestones... I want them ALL!!!). I really think it turned out really cute, but it could just be the image that I'm in love with ;)

Basic Grey #26

Good Friday morning, folks! My husband was out of town yesterday, so I gathered up my card making materials and took them to the family room to be close to my mum-in-law and to watch the NCAA basketball championship games. I was very productive! I made the following cards for various challenges for this past week. Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed making them!

Basic Grey #26 no square corners

This card was made for Basic Grey's challenge not to use any pointed or square corners. The card was made with BG's Two Scoops. I put the yellow paper behind the image after cutting it with Nestabilities circle scallops. The image is also cut with Nesties circle. I used a Fiskers corner punch on the main panel corners and used my corner rounder on the cardstock for the card body. The stamp is Fluffles the Cat from Stampendous. I colored the image with Copic markers. Embellishments are ribbon, a spiral clip, Prima flowers and Latte pearls from Kaiser. It's a simple card, but I think it turned out really cute!

Mojo Monday #78

This card was for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge #78. Again, I used Basic Grey Cupcake for my background paper. The image is from SU (I think... it's from my daughter's collection). I colored the image with Copics and tied a short piece of ribbon in a knot and glued it onto the image. The pale blue is sponged on using my chalk. I haven't sponged with chalk before, and I really like the results! I used two strips of ribbon because it's pretty narrow, and doubled the bow. I used Kaiser pearls in Latte to complete the card. What do you think???

My Favorie Things Sketch Challege #73

This was probably the most fun card I made. I wanted to use this ribbon, so I colored the awning red and left part of it white. I colored the dress blue and the suit red and pink, giving her red boots. I love the look of a white card with dry embossing, so I used my CB Swiss Dots embossing folder on the background and also on the phrase. The phrase is cut out with my narrow rectangle Nesties scallop, but it's hard to see. I raised the image panel on foam dots, glued the top of the awning to the background panel and raised it again at the front on foam dots to give it a 3-D look. I had to use cotton on the poodle. I may have gotten a wee bit too much... what do you think? I finished the card with three Kaiser red pearls. I colored it all with Copics. So, what do you think? I think it's pretty cute myself :)

Cute Card Thursday #52 - a recipe

This card was made for yesterday's Cute Card Thursday. The recipe was to use something torn or ripped, two papers and four embellishments. I ripped/tore the image and ruffled the edges. I used a brown chalk around the edges as well. I colored the image with Copics. The image is from SU, my daughter's collection. My embellishments are two flowers (Prima) stacked with a brad in the center (that's 3) and a ribbon through the sentiment (that makes 4). The paper is from Basic Grey's Infuse. I also punched the bottom of the floral dp with a border punch, but it doesn't show up very well. I thought it turned out pretty cute for such a limited card. What do you think?

Penny Black Sketch Challenge #40

Clean and Simple 05 (blue and green)

As simple as this card is, I think it turned out really cute! But I love the colors together. The image is Penny Black, colored with Copics, and sponged with chalk (told you I liked the results!). There is a green ribbon behind the image, but it got hidden with the Prima flowers. I popped the image up on foam squares. The image is cut out using Nesties ovals and scallops. I used silver brads in the corners. This could definitely be a CAS card!

Hey, I'm getting my groove back! :) I made this card for SCS's color challenge and sketch challenge. The image is borrowed from my daughter (don't know what it is). I used black, sort of a kraft and a sunny yellow and a red. I got the idea to do different CB embossing folders on the yellow panels from a SCSer, Roxie, aka Rox71. I used red pearls from Kaiser in the corners and a krafty ribbon, again on the corners. I used a white pen to highlight the scallops and colored the image with Copics. It has a rather springy feel, don't you think?

VLVMar02 pink, red and green

Ok, I'm catching up with Verve's March challenges. This sketch's "twist" was to use pink, red and green. My paper is BasicGrey's Infuse. The foreground paper behind the image is a bit of red/pink. I added red pearls from Kaiser so there was no confusion with the red :). I made the bird a robin - with a red breast. I colored the butterfly red, green and pink. The pot is a shade of Copic red, and the flowers are pink. I used Prisma green and pink flowers. I popped them out on foam squares. The image is cut with Nestabilities Ovals and the sentiment is cut with Nesties long scallop rectangle and attached with a spiral clip. I put a pink gingham ribbon behind the image panel. The image is colored with Copics.

VLVMar01 buttons

Well, I decided it was time to make some more cards! This one was made for Verve's first March challenge with a "twist" of buttons. I used a CB embossing folder on the green base, a tan strip in the middle (matches the brown bunny) and red (to match the red buttons) border around the image. I pierced the scallops and used chalk to sponge around the image. The image and scallop are Nestabilities circles. I colored the image with Copics and used Holly green stickles on the dots on the cup. The image is by My Favorite Things. I wanted to used a brown button, so I put a green ribbon through it and knotted the ribbon. I put a piece of cotton ball on the gray bunny's tail. It looks simple, but it wasn't as simple as it looks! But it was fun.

A Birthday Card VLVMar03

Hi! It's been awhile since I made a card. This one was made for a special friend that I just reconnected with on facebook. Her birthday is this week.

This card was made with Basic Grey's Infuse paper. I used a Tilda stamp by Magnolia. I colored the image with Copics. I stamped the image twice, cut the second image out and put it up on dimintionals. I used Nestabilities Ovals for the images. I also used Basic Grey brads. I put a ribbon behind the image. The sketch is for Verve's VLVMar03 sketch challenge.

I also put the sentiment on dimintionals.

I finished the inside of the card, using a Fiskers corner punch and Nestabilities rectangles.
